Who on earth is 5wire Networks and how long has it been around?
We started as a bedroom business in 2008, registered as a Limited company in 2014, and thereafter have operated a small (I prefer the term boutique) hosting provider, offering cPanel Web Hosting & Reseller Hosting, Virtual Servers, Dedicated Servers, and Colocation facilities.
How many people in the team?
We’re a team of 3 with support from additional resources to maintain the stability, support and performance of our services. As we grow, we plan to extend the team.
Do you offer Incoming Filtering and Outgoing Filtering for Email?
Yes, in recent months we deployed SpamExperts at the request of several clients who migrated across. We’ve worked closely with a handful of clients to fine tune and offer a safe and secure environment to operate email services.
Is your Reseller Hosting white-label?
Yes. Your clients will never know we exist (unless you tell them). We operate under the domain hostsrver.com.
Could you explain your infrastructure setup?
Our equipment is based in the UK. All of our cPanel Hosting is hosted on Virtual Servers, we use Proxmox with a high availability cluster, underpinned by Ceph as our storage cluster. Our network and storage both operate on independent 10Gbit ports, powered by NVM SSDs. Virtual Server data is replicated three times across our storage cluster.
Each server is incrementally backed up every 3 hours in live without disruption to service.

What resources are available for each cPanel account?
We use CloudLinux to power all of our Reseller Hosting clients. Each cPanel accounts receives:
- 2 Cores
- 2GB RAM
- 25 Processes
- 50MB/s IO
- 1024 IPS
- 100 NPROC
How do you manage cPanel Backups?
We use cPanel’s native backup capability. The backup retention cycle is as follows:
- Daily Backups: 7 days
- Weekly Backups: 4 weeks
- Monthly Backups: 6 months
The backups are stored on a separate backup storage cluster and replicated offsite.
Do you resell WHMCS?
Currently no, we are considering it for the future if there is enough interest.
How do we migrate our Reseller Accounts?
At the time of writing this, we are in the process of building a migration tool integrated into our billing centre that will provide you with full control to be independent to manage this yourself.
In the interim, we have two methods to help manage the migration:
- Bulk Migration: we agree a date/time to manage the entire transfer of your cPanel accounts to our servers
- Gradual Migration: we will setup a script that allows you to upload + automatically restore a cPanel backup
We’re happy to support either method depending on your preferred approach.
Do you provide a One Click App Installer?
Yes, we use Softaculous.
Are free SSL Certificates available?
Yes, LetsEncrypt is installed across all our servers.
Do you offer custom nameservers?
Yes. You may define your own nameservers.
Do you offer WordPress Toolkit?
The basic version is included.
Is there a Firewall Manager?
Yes, we provide an Unban Center that allows you to unblock banned IPs across any of our firewalls/cPanel.
Is there a way to preview a website before changing the nameservers?
Yes, we provide a free version of SkipDNS in the cPanel interface.
What are the costs for additional storage?
We charge £0.50 excluding VAT per 1GB on a pay-as-you-use type model rather than having to commit upfront.
What if I want to add more cPanel Accounts?
Extra cPanel accounts are charged at £1 excluding VAT per month, per account. This is automatically billed once you exceed the number of accounts associated with your Reseller Hosting Plan?
